This is one of my favorites, just put it into game and see how your oponent's face change (only if you are using an library kill deck). With a few 0 casting artifacts on the first turn and you have enough mana for a good while.

Magic almost died because of this card. The environment degenerated to the point that whoever wins the coinflip wins the game. There are several cards currently t1-restricted that would not be on the list if academy did not exist.

SOME FACTS ABOUT THE ACADEMY

Possibly the most broken card ever, Tolarian Academy Buy was so outrageous that tournaments started having more copies of it than plains and swamps combined. It's one of two restricted lands ever, and the backbone of some turn-one kill decks.

There are three restricted lands, this, Strip Mine, and Library Of Alexandria.

This card was banned from Extended and restricted in Type 1 for good reason. I have a friend who has a pure artifact casual deck, and with this he can get a Kaervek's Torch Buy off for more than three-hundred.

One of the best cards ever, with Mirrodin block, Type 1 Ravager can be incredibly powerful, not to mention the hundreds of other types of decks it fuels. I'm not entirely sure how it's worth less than Gaea's Cradle Buy, but who knows.

Kaervek's Torch Buy? Why not use Fireball Buy, in case there's more than one opponent? He1l, since it's casual, why not use The Ultimate Nightmare of Wizards of the Coast® Customer Service. ;-)

OMFGWTFBBQROFLMAOLOL. Seriously, my deck has relied on this card so much until recently. Then I went to counter-affinity casual, and its not so necessary. But still. Drawing 14-20 cards on one turn by playing Rush of Knowledge Buy with Broodstar Buy or a Myr Enforcer out is insane. truly insane.

Now, you might ask why I rate just about the strongest card in Magic so low. The reason is simple, a card which single-handedly destroys the game is a very, very bad thing. I only rate overall, since others would require me to give it props, which I something I'm never going to submit to. Anyhow, evil, evil card which should simply be incinerated. Every single copy of it burned from the world, so nothing remains. Actually, let's have an ironman tournament with 60 Academy decks only, that ought to do it.

one of the most broken cards ever

however, just because a card is overpowered, it doesn't make it bad. why give it bad ratings, overpowered cards are usually good. just for that, i am going to have to rate 1 star on all the moxes and black lotus, but i can't be bothered
