I control a Bioessence Hydra. If I cast a Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner will the Hydra get counters when Kiora enters the battlefield? I guess what I'm really asking is: Are loyalty counters placed on a planeswalker as it enters the battlefield? I imagine the situation would be pretty crazy with Doubling Season Buy ---------------------------------------- LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!!!

The answer is yes, the Hydra gets counters when planeswalkers enter the battlefield, and Doubling Season is well known to be broken in a planeswalkers deck. Look at the Hydra's rulings: 03/05/2019 Abilities that trigger when counters are put on a permanent trigger when a permanent enters the battlefield with counters and when a player puts counters on a permanent. 03/05/2019 If Bioessence Hydra enters the battlefield at the same time as a planeswalker you control, the loyalty counters that planeswalker will receive won’t be counted to determine how many counters Bioessence Hydra enters the battlefield with, but they will cause its last ability to trigger. | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That looks like a direct cut n paste from the gatherer. I read that. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Edit: Since Kiora would etb with 7 (14 with Season), Hydra would gain 7 (28 with Season) ![]() ---------------------------------------- LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!!!
